About Me
The thing I love most about what I do is being able to connect with people, whether that is the people I perform with or who I perform to. Having performed for all age groups and ethnicities, it is clear to see music has a power to connects us all with sound. It is its own language and can be understood and interpreted in countless ways. Since I can remember I have always been fascinated by music and its extraordinary qualities and effects it has on people’s emotions, feelings and lives. I have seen first hand the power it has to bring back memories, enhance stories, provide comfort and entertainment and so much more…
In early 2024 I was fortunate enough to sign my first cruise ship contract to join the Headliner’s orchestra as the house saxophonist onboard P&O’s Iona. This was such a great experience being able to meet players from all around the world and a great opportunity do what I love and play my instruments. To date (January 2026) I have completed five cruise contracts with more contracts lined up for the near future.
I have played at festivals including: 51st Montreux Jazz Festival (2017) and The North Sea Jazz Festival (2017) and entertained crowds at concerts, functions and private events such as birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.
As music has such a massive history and it’s amazing to think how music has changed over the years and as it is forever-changing there is no limit to what you can learn and create. To further my knowledge I have taken part in workshops run by ‘Jazzsmart’ and ‘Tomorrow’s Warriors’ where I had the pleasure of playing in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London. Having graduated from university with first class honours in BMus Jazz Performance (Hons) between the years 2019-2023, I was given the chance to explore my craft; composing original tunes, developing my technique and skill as well as forming and leading my own bands. In addition, I have had the experience of playing first and second alto in wind bands and big bands. ‘Spaceflight’, who have played at Chichester Jazz Club, and won ‘Ensemble of the Year’ at the Conservatoire where I studied, was a band I founded and led between 2020-2022. ‘SaxandUke‘ is a band Matthew Quilliam and I founded in 2022 who have played in a variety of venues, to name a few: Basingstoke Canal on the John Pinkerton II, the Summer Sessions at Chichester Festival Theatre, Hilliers Garden Centre (Winchester), The Beach Cafe (Littlehampton), St Faith’s Church (Havant), St Cross Church (Winchester) and many more…
